General Manager of America BRIGHT

About Capital Good Fund

Capital Good Fund (“Good Fund”) is a nonprofit, U.S. Treasury-certified Community Development Financial Institution headquartered in Providence, RI. Founded in 2009, our mission is to create pathways out of poverty and advance a green economy through inclusive financial services. Good Fund employees are committed to using financial services to transform the lives of those we serve.

Job Description/Responsibilities

This full-time position is an opportunity to help Capital Good Fund’s subsidiary, America BRIGHT Solar, LLC, rapidly scale its innovative solar and battery-storage leasing / Power Purchase Agreement model, in Georgia and across multiple states. America BRIGHT is a wholly owned subsidiary of Capital Good Fund, a tax-exempt, U.S. Treasury-certified Community Development Financial Institution, or CDFI. America BRIGHT serves as the holding company for Capital Good Fund’s solar leasing and PPA programs, under which we leverage the new “Direct Pay” provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act to monetize federal clean energy tax credits to deliver savings to low- and moderate-income homeowners, renters, and communities.

The General Manager of America BRIGHT will report to Capital Good Fund’s CEO and be directly responsible for various aspects of the leasing and PPA programs, including program and product design, development, expansion, and refinement; contractor recruitment and management; and customer acquisition and outreach. The General Manager will also support other elements of the BRIGHT program, but not be directly responsible. These include helping to raise debt and grant capital by providing data points to and assisting in the financial modeling for the Development Team; improving technology and policies and procedures by providing input and feedback to the Origination, Servicing, and IT departments; raising awareness of the program by engaging with media, assisting in the drafting of Op-Eds and blog posts, and, to a limited extent, advocating for policies that align with the program’s mission, such as net-metering and community solar.

Note that Capital Good Fund expects a significant infusion of funding from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund in Summer / Fall 2024, as a direct or sub-recipient in Georgia and/or a sub-recipient in multiple other states. The General Manager will be crucial in absorbing and deploying this capital in Georgia and beyond.

In this role, the General Manager of America BRIGHT Solar will:

  • Recruit and manage EPCs for the existing pilot program in Georgia as well as future programs in Georgia and beyond
  • Play a key role in all aspects of customer development and outreach, including the direct recruitment and management of future salespeople; working with the Marketing Team on various PR efforts; implementing refer-a-friend programs; and engaging stakeholders ranging from community members to customers, nonprofits, and elected officials
  • Monitor and track KPIs for the program–such as megawatts of solar deployed, savings realized, jobs created, and contracts signed–and report the data to internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with financial modeling and other analysis needed to evaluate opportunities for expansion, such as bringing the lease to another state, launching a community solar program, or accepting a sub-grant from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund to otherwise scale, expand, or modify the program
  • Advocate for policies that benefit both the program and low-income communities, for instance by intervening in utility rate cases, testifying in support of net metering, commenting on proposed federal guidance relevant to BRIGHT programming, and writing op-eds
  • Innovate new ways to drive decarbonization, cost savings, pollution reduction, and job creation in low- and moderate-income communities
  • Provide quarterly updates to the Capital Good Fund Board on all aspects of the program; draft memos to the Board for needed votes, such as to form a subsidiary LLC to launch in a new state or to accept a debt investment at America BRIGHT Solar or one of its subsidiary LLCs
