In partnership with National Grid, we are thrilled to offer the DoubleGreen Loan (AKA "Heat Loan"). Ranging from $500 to $25,000, the interest-free loan pays for measures that make your home more energy-efficient and safe. In fact, you can get a DoubleGreen loan for a variety of upgrades (usually as a package of measures), including:

• Wall insulation and replacement windows
• Duct sealing
• Removal of knob-and-tube wiring
• High-efficiency heating and cooling equipment
• Any other measure that National Grid has deemed eligible for the program. A full list can be found here.

Designed to serve the needs of moderate-to-middle income homeowners with less-than-perfect credit, the loan is paid back in monthly installments. And because you don't have to pay interest, the loan is extremely affordable.

What do I need to apply for a loan?

You must:

• Have a bank account
• Reside in Rhode Island or Massachusetts
• Have an income
• Be a homeowner and be current on your mortgage

We will need the following documents after you submit your application:

• Two months' bank account statements (3 months' if you are applying for $2,000 or more)
• HEAT Loan Authorization Form (contact Jannine LaPete at 401-784-3700, ext. 6119)
• Copy of government-issued ID
• Voided check or prepaid card with ACH features
• We may ask for additional documents after you apply
